SUMMARY PAPER

A Summary Paper is due one week following the last class session.
The purpose is to write a complete systems analysis of the organization where the adult learners will be doing their Action Research Project. They should include a diagram of the organization using one or both of the models discussed.

Topics to be addressed include:

1. A description of your system using the concepts and components given in the Six-Box &      Input/Output Models
2. Boundaries and environments
3. Organizational structure
4. A description of the formal and informal system
5.  Rewards offered by the system
6.  Power
7.  A force-field analysis of the problem that is considered for the project
8. Any organizational interventions being considering and
9.  Reactions to proposed changes.


The summary paper will serve as a basis for Chapter I of the Action Research Project.

WRITTING THE SUMMARY PAPER

  • Must be 8-10 double spaced pages in length and formatted according to APA style as outlined in A Writer’s Reference.
  • Must include a cover page that includes the following:

         1. Adult learner’s name
         2. Module name and number
         3. Name of paper
         4. Facilitator’s name
         5. Date submitted
  • Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
  • The body of the paper must include these components, addressed in the following way:

    1. Reference an academic concept gleaned from classroom or reading experience during this module. Use APA style as outlined in A Writer’s Reference to document all sources.

    2. Provide a context of experience where the adult learner saw this academic concept in operation.

    3. Readdress the concept and the experience with critical thought. That is, how does this adult  learner respond to the content, positive or negative, and defend position?

  • The paper must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.
  • The final page must be a Reference List that is completed according to APA style as outlined in A Writer’s Reference.
